TAU’s role in AgRimate
TAU is the technical coordinator of the project, overseeing the integration and alignment of technological developments across partners. Moreover, TAU is primarily responsible for contributing key artificial intelligence capabilities to enable intelligent, adaptable, and autonomous robotic behavior, as well as developing advanced robotic manipulation strategies.
About TAU
Tampere University is one of the most multidisciplinary universities in Finland, bringing together research and education in technology, health and society. The pirmary focus of our research group, Future Automation Systems & Technologies Laboratory (FAST-Lab), is on robotic manipulation of deformable materials, human-robot interaction, and Artificial Intelligence.
Quote about the project
“At TAU, we aim to leverage the power of Deep Learning to capture the expert knowledge of skilled farmers in precision pruning. This knowledge will be transferred into advanced technological solutions—such as Augmented Reality and robotics—to support and enhance decision-making in the field. Additionally, TAU is developing the robotic manipulation capabilities required for autonomous pruning, enabling robots to perform delicate tasks with the accuracy and care of a human expert.”
