On September 29 and 30, two focus groups with expert pruners were conducted in the towns of Mogón and Baeza (Andalusia) as part of the AgRimate project.
They were conducted by researchers from the Technical University of Berlin with the help of the UPA (Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos) team. The discussions focused on the needs of olive farmers regarding pruning tasks and on AgRimate’s ultimate goal: providing augmented reality glasses as a support tool for pruners of all experience levels.
Over the course of these two days, olive farmers shared their concerns, needs, and the expertise gained from years of managing traditional olive groves. This information will be crucial for the human-centered development of the augmented reality glasses.
Additionally, the company Xymbot conducted a demonstration of an initial AR glasses model to give the farmers a first idea of how interaction could look and feel like in the future. Participants were able to try on the glasses individually and subsequently shared their impressions with the researchers.
