Throughout the AgRimate project, Robotnik is enhancing one of the robotic platforms from the company’s catalogue to tackle the physically demanding and repetitive tasks faced by vineyard workers.
Building on the strengths of the existing platform, the company is integrating robotic arms capable of performing automated pruning, a bridge-type structure to efficiently navigate over vineyard rows, and powerful traction system specifically designed for outdoor agricultural environments.
Previous field deployments of the platform in rough and uneven terrain demonstrated its strong potential for vineyard operations. The main limitation identified was wheel traction under challenging ground conditions. Within this project, the robotic platform will be upgraded with an improved traction system, including redesigned wheels, enhanced motors, and an optimized suspension system, significantly increasing stability, mobility, and operational reliability.
The robot integrates a comprehensive sensor suite enabling autonomous navigation, precise localization, and safe operation. This allows the platform to autonomously navigate vineyard rows, perform pruning operations, and scan the entire vineyard for monitoring and analysis purposes.
A key exploitation advantage of this solution is its ability to operate as a fully autonomous and stand-alone system. This makes the robotic platform highly versatile and suitable for deployment across different vineyard environments, supporting increased productivity, sustainability, and reduced physical workload for farmers.
