The 11th Oleo Carteya Fresh Olive Oil Fair, held from December 3rd to 7th, 2025, in Nueva Carteya, Córdoba, focused on extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) as a vital economic, cultural, and social force in the region.

Among various other initiatives, the AgRimate Project was highlighted, offering a glimpse into the future of this strategic sector.

The event, strongly supported by the Provincial Council of Córdoba through its “Sabor a Córdoba” (Taste of Córdoba) promotional brand, served as a powerful platform for the entire olive oil value chain.
Félix Romero, the Delegate for Economic Development, Promotion, and Employment, highlighted the institution’s commitment to a sector that generates “more than one billion euros in revenue and numerous jobs.” He emphasised that Oleo Carteya is “a tribute to generations of farmers and olive growers” whose dedication has yielded exceptionally high-quality oils.

The fair provided a crucial opportunity for the presentation of the AgRimate Project, an initiative poised to bring innovation and sustainability to the agricultural landscape.
Alicia Martinez, Secretary for Generational Transition and Digitalization at UPA, took the floor to detail the development of the project, supported by the Horizon Europe initiative.
The AgRimate Project aims to address contemporary challenges in agriculture, focusing on digitalization and generational transition to ensure the sector’s long-term viability and competitiveness. By leveraging European support, AgRimate is working on solutions that will integrate new technologies and knowledge transfer, helping traditional olive groves adapt to a modern, more demanding global market.

Beyond the business and research focus, the 11th edition of Oleo Carteya reaffirmed its role as a multifaceted cultural and social event. The packed program included:
– Guided tastings of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in high schools and colleges, a Montilla-Moriles wine tasting, and tastings of local products;
– The Oleo Carteya chess tournament, linked to sports tourism, and guided tours as part of the olive oil tourism program;
– Musical performances, craft workshops, children’s activities, concerts, and hiking trails.

Oleo Carteya reaffirms its role as a vital showcase for the province’s premium olive oil and a key meeting point for farmers, professionals, and visitors eager to experience the rich culture of olive groves firsthand.
